This video is about Oregon trying to pass a law similar to one passed in Idaho in 1982 that would allow cyclists to treat stop signs as yield signs or to make a rolling stop for bicycles legal.
Really, as a cyclists often when confronted with traffic controls we sometimes make what we feel are the safest choices. Stop signs are in effect Yield signs and red lights are treated as Stop signs when light traffic conditions exist.
Turning left on a red arrow when the light is green for straightforward travel is often necessary for us on bikesĀ as the light isn’t going to get a trigger from the wiring in the pavement from a single bicycle.
Safety is still paramount but we need to conserve our efficiency on two wheels and at the same time be considerate of others without appearing to disregard ordinary rules of the road.
Good points made here.
